In the refined and timeless atmosphere of Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel, 1638 Restaurant & Wine Bar is a stage of Iberian haute cuisine. Here, Chef Nacho Manzano, a three-Michelin-star winner at Casa Marcial, artfully combines the flavours of his Asturian culinary heritage with the Atlantic richness of the Portuguese coast and the finest Kopke wines.
Through an ever-evolving menu, the restaurant’s fine dining concept offers a carefully crafted journey through the Porto region and Northern Spain, weaving together emotions, textures, flavours, contrasts, and fragrances to highlight the essence of each ingredient and elevate it to a new level. Panoramic views of Porto, soft lighting and flawless service invite you to linger while bespoke wine pairing options echo each dish’s character.
Named for Kopke’s founding year, 1638 Restaurant & Wine Bar is both homage and revelation: a sensory journey where time slows, flavours endure, and a unique Iberian bond unites the sea breeze with high mountain pastures.

Guests are also treated to exceptional vintages, such as the Kopke 30-Year-Old Tawny Port, adding yet another layer of exclusivity to the 1638 Restaurant & Wine Bar experience.
THE CHEF
Born in La Salgar, Asturias, Chef Nacho Manzano started his culinary journey in his family kitchen. With his sisters Esther and Sandra, he transformed Casa Marcial from a rustic village sidrería into one of Spain’s most celebrated dining establishments, earning its first Michelin star in 1999, a second in 2009, and a highly sought-after third in 2024. The Manzano family has since expanded their gastronomic ventures with Gloria in Oviedo and Gijón, Narbasu Restaurant & Hotel (Green Michelin Star), and NM Restaurant (one star).
Carefully sourced mountain herbs, garden vegetables, and coastal seafood are elevated by precise, respectful techniques. His close collaboration with local producers, commitment to short supply chains, and steadfast dedication to environmental sustainability have earned him Michelin’s Green Star for sustainability.
Today, that same vision guides every dish at Tivoli Kopke, where Chef Manzano curates the tasting experiences of 1638 Restaurant & Wine Bar and the panoramic Boa Vista Terrace.
